Fallen

Most people around me are familiar with the fact I have been wearing the same perfume for many years: Amour by Kenzo. It is my signature scent and it fits me like a glove: I have actually been chased down the street more than once by women wanting to know the name of my scent (and I am being serious here: once a girl on a bike followed me halfway through town to catch up with me), men have been known to linger just a little too close while sounding like they have a good case of the sniffles and my children refer to it as ‘smells like mom’. All in all, a winner in my book because that is exactly what a scent should be: an actual part of you instead of something just clinging on for dear life.
If Kenzo ever decides to discontinue Amour you can rest assured I’ll be the one buying the world’s remaining supplies, only after having thrown a major hissy fit of course.

All that being said, I do like to have a whiff every now and then of other perfumes, just to see if there is a possibility of me bumping into another signature scent.
With that in mind I recently came into contact, through Instagram no less, with Danish brand ZarkoPerfume.

I was aware of the fact they had just won the Blogger’s Choice Award for ‘PINK MOLéCULE’ at the Danish Beauty Award 2015 and the fact their scents, handmade and bottled in Denmark, are based on molecular science made me very curious.

Hesitant to splurge on just the one expensive bottle I was able to order 5 samples of scents instead through Dutch niche perfume store ParfuMaria. And it took me just one day to completely fall in love with both ‘OUD’ISH’ and ‘MOLéCULE No8’. Their development on my skin was just so lovely and I could not keep myself from sniffing my own wrists several times during the day. So both are now on my wish list.

ZarkoPerfume may be a relative newcomer to the market but I do feel if they step up their media presence in Europe they will manage to make many people fall in love with their scents, just like I did: falling straight up to scent heaven.
